To be eligible for IV iron infusions I need to see recent bloodwork (taken with in the last 4 weeks)
You can either do this through your GP or Nurse practitioner or through me (billed privately). See below.
I need to see the following (costs if billed privately through my clinic):
Iron panel and CBC (about $120).
Liver & Kidney Panels, Electrolytes. (about $120).
COST: $180
TIME: 45 minutes
Because... safety first.
Before you are eligible for IV iron therapy we need to have a consult so I can understand the full history and your goals with iron infusion therapy.
We'll review your blood work and do any relevant physical exams (blood pressure for example). If it's warranted and safe to do so, and we have enough time allotted ** we can do the first iron infusion that day or book you back in to begin.
Please come to your appointment fed and hydrated.

I use Venofer (iron sucrose) as it comes with the lowest risk and best safety profile (for a clinic my size).
I recommend weekly infusions for a total of 4 treatments. Each week your IV will contain up to 100 mg of iron.
Your first treatment might be a modified dose, depending on what I learn in your injection consult.
Most see clinical improvements between 3 and 21 days after.
We typically see ferritin increase by 10-15 points for each 100 mg of iron administered (less if anemic).
We will rerun the Iron Panel and CBC approximately 4-5 weeks after your last treatment.
Please come to your appointment fed and hydrated.
Three sneaky symptoms that might mean you're B12 deficient. Symptom number one, you're tired. I mean, dog sleeping by the fire, even though there is delicious unattended food nearby. Tired. Exactly… that. Tired. B12 is crucial for energy production in the body. And if you're getting enough sleep, quote, unquote, and still are dog ass tired, your low B12 might be the culprit.
Symptom number two, you're buzzing. Medically speaking, you have peripheral neuropathy. You're tingling, numb. B12 helps produce myelin in the body. This is the fatty insulation that surrounds your nerve cells. If it's missing, then your neurons aren't conducting signals effectively. Ouch…
Symptom number three, you're, uh, confused and, uh, forgetting things. Why did you come in this room? How did you get here? What were you supposed to get at this store? What was it so and so said to you yesterday that you promised you'd pass along? Is today the day your sister is coming to visit? If you're feeling like a lot of your daily life is a big mystery, it might be your brain begging for B12. Yes, there are other reasons for this, including our lowered attention spans due to scrolling, but don't stop. Stay with me for one more comment.
You're likely to be B12 deficient if you're over 35, vegan, pregnant, missing any part of your gut or any part of it's not functioning or inflamed, a host to worms of the tape variety, or if you've been on antibiotics or have any kind of liver issues. It's hard to get enough B12 from food, especially as we age, because we don't absorb it as well as when we were young. And 30% or more is destroyed by cooking. And since the best sources come from meat, it's a problem. So, bypass all of that and just come in for an injection.
